'Deal Town Council has no jurisdiction over this matter as the property belonged to Dover District Council.  However, Deal Town Council continue to be concerned at the delay in re-opening the Regent as a Cinema.'

(August 2015)

'For far too long it has been left in a dilapidated state and is fast becoming an eyesore. There have been repeated discussions and numerous plans to convert it back into a cinema and cafe. But the constant delays and prevarications are now inexcusable and untenable. The building is an embarrassment and a disgrace to the town.'
